Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated: 16 August 2026

This Acceptable Use Policy applies to everyone who uses Monitor HQ, including through our website, dashboard, REST API, or webhooks. It expands on Section 5 of our Terms of Service, which it forms part of.

1. Don't Misuse the Data

  • Don't scrape, bulk-export, or resell the underlying register data (ASIC, ABR, business names) as a standalone product or dataset separate from using Monitor HQ itself.
  • Don't use the data to make unauthorised decisions about a real person based on their role as a company officer, beyond legitimate business, credit, or compliance purposes.
  • Don't use the data to stalk, harass, or intimidate anyone.

2. Don't Abuse the Platform

  • Don't attempt to circumvent entity limits, subscription tiers, or API rate limits.
  • Don't attempt to gain unauthorised access to any account, system, or data that isn't yours.
  • Don't submit false, fraudulent, or misleading information when creating an account or configuring monitoring.
  • Don't attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract the Service's source code.
  • Don't probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service without our prior written permission.

3. Don't Resell Access

Don't resell or sublicense API or webhook access to a third party without our written agreement. If you want to build a product on top of Monitor HQ, get in touch - we're generally open to it, just not without a conversation first.

4. Don't Break the Law

Don't use the Service for anything that violates Australian law, including privacy, anti-spam, or consumer protection law, or the law of any jurisdiction you operate in.

5. API and Webhook Specifics

  • Keep your API tokens and webhook signing secret confidential. You're responsible for activity under your credentials.
  • Respect the rate limits documented in our API documentation. We may throttle or block traffic that doesn't.
  • Don't use automated tooling to generate excessive load intended to degrade the Service for other customers.

6. Enforcement

Breaching this policy may result in suspension or termination of your account, without refund, consistent with Section 4.5 of our Terms of Service. Where reasonably possible, we'll try to warn you first and give you a chance to fix the issue - but for serious breaches (fraud, security probing, data misuse) we may act immediately.

7. Reporting Abuse

If you believe someone is misusing Monitor HQ, let us know at hello@monitorhq.com.au or via our contact page.
